Alex sings the songs from the Berlin’s cabaret with a voice that recalls the period with a command of style that transports instantly back to a time and place, with more authenticity than almost any other singer today.” Michael Haas, Executive Producer, Decca Recording Series
“Entartete Musik”, November 2000

Beautiful in every aspect,
Alex’s singing is charming and beams into the audience. She moves beautifully to the songs, has style and both her interpretation and presentation is strong and capturing. Her expressions are exquisite, her voice at times dark and at times full with colour and light … Deservedly standing ovations!

Chanteuse
Alex creates an authentic slice of the volitile twnties. Her strong, clear voice is further enhanced by Matthew Freeman, a pianist equally at home with demanding sensitivity and driving rhythms. The ballad Escale haunts and yet enchants, the incisive Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß receives a classic rendering and on the spoken side the MC monologue is convincingly authentic.

The closer is an unexpectedly spinetingling version of L’Accordéoniste into which
Alex successfully puts all the promise of her repertoire. Cue ecstatic applause.
The Stage, December 2000

Alex is a wonderful singer who renders the songs of Holländer and Pinelli with flexibility, her lovely voice cracking on those arch lyrics.
